About Joe M. McGreevy

Before joining the firm in 2014, Joe worked as an associate for Steve A.J. Bukaty, Chtd. representing police unions and specializing in labor and employment law. Since joining the firm, Joe has expanded his practices areas to include many areas of tort defense and construction law. Joe has handled several arbitrations and two jury trials, both in 2016.

Joe is licensed to practice in both Kansas and Missouri. Joe is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the District of Kansas and the Western District of Missouri.

  • Significant Accomplishments

    • Mathia v. Berger

      Venue: Johnson County, Kansas

      Joe McGreevy defended this action where Plaintiff claimed he suffered a herniated disc and other soft-tissue injuries resulting from a rear-end auto accident. Defendant admitted liability but contested plaintiff’s injuries. The jury verdict returned was less than one-fifth of plaintiff’s lowest demand before trial.

    • Plaza Gas Explosion & JJ’s Restaurant Litigation

      Venue: Jackson County, Missouri

      The gas explosion at JJ’s Restaurant in Kansas City’s historic Country Club Plaza led to national headlines in 2013. Brad Russell, Jeff Baker, Tyler Hibler, and Joe McGreevy represented the underground utility contractor that struck a buried gas line before the explosion. There were more than 15 separate lawsuits filed as a result of this incident, which involved substantial personal injury and property damage claims. The firm provided public relations assistance and protected the legal and financial interests of its client from immediately after the explosion through the protracted litigation.

    • Shaw Electric Co. v. Lynch Electrical, Inc.

      Venue: Jackson County, Missouri

      Jeff Baker and Joe McGreevy obtained summary judgment in client Shaw’s favor regarding Lynch Electrical’s mechanic’s lien on a related construction project.
